RINGETTE SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Technical skills matrix

The Ringette BC LTAD Skills Matrix presents a comprehensive list of skills that should be developed within each division. The Skills Matrix is valuable for coaches in season and practice planning and can inform parents and players as to the skills they should be learning at each stage.

Ringette skills evaluations

At the U12 and higher divisions, players are evaluated on their ringette skills and are given an “ordinal” score, which is a summary score from 1 to 5 that indicates their level of ringette skill.

The evaluation practice plans and the evaluation rubrics can be found here: https://www.ringettebc.ca/athletes/player-evaluations/

Professional instruction, clinics, and camps [in-house and external]

It is recommended that players seek out dedicated skating instruction as part of their overall ringette development. While coaches will work on skating during practices, the amount of time is limited. Members may seek to enroll in private programs or camps, or teams can hire professional instructors to join their practices.
In the past three years, PCRMRA has employed the following organizations: Summer camps are commonly offered by ringette clubs, municipal recreation associations, and private groups. PCRMRA typically runs on- and off-ice pre-season rust removal sessions at the end of August/beginning of September.
